Is Methicone safe?

Yes. Like other silicones used in cosmetics, Methicone is inert and stays on the surface of the skin rather than being absorbed. It has a long record of safe use in sunscreens and makeup and is non-irritating for most people. It is mainly a texture and coating ingredient with no known reactivity concern for typical use.

Does Methicone clog pores?

Generally no. Silicones like Methicone are large molecules that sit on the skin surface and are widely regarded as non-comedogenic. It is used in small amounts to coat pigments rather than as a heavy occlusive layer. If a product breaks you out, richer oils and waxes in the formula are the more likely cause.

Is Methicone a UV filter?
